رەھىم ياسىن قاينامى

Rehim Yasin Qaynami is one of the poets who has been forcibly disappeared since 2017. It is unknown what sentence he has received or in which prison he is currently serving.

Rehim Yasin Qaynami was born in 1975 in the border city of Khorgos. After completing middle school, he had to leave his studies due to his family’s difficult economic situation. Afterwards, no matter what kinds of hardships he faced in life, he never stopped learning on his own. He developed a strong interest in literature and began writing poetry.

Starting in 1996, Rehim Yasin Qaynami began publishing his poems. Since then, his works—written in various themes and genres—have been published in Uyghur-language media. Up until recent years, he changed his poetic style several times.

Before his arrest, Rehim Yasin Qaynami had prepared poetry collections such as (Su Yuzige Yezilghan Xet) “Letters Written on the Surface of Water” and (Meni Chaqirghan Senmu) “Was It You Who Called Me?” for publication. More than 200 of his poems and prose, including “Living in a Girl’s Heart,” “Will You Get Married?”, “The Shining Bone of the Tongue,” and “The Star Guide,” have been published in various newspapers and magazines. His works have been included in a number of collective collections.

At the end of 2017, before being detained, Qaynami entrusted his new collection titled (Melike Ormanliqidiki Qushlar) “Birds in the Queen’s Forest” to the Uyghur intellectual in abroad. The book was later published by Teklimakan Uyghur Publishing House in Istanbul.
