His name was Ibrahim Dawut. He lived as a hero, he left his legacy behind him as heroism. He was a legendary person who always do something people can’t even imagine.
Ibrahim Duwut was born and raised in Kashgar, graduated Kashgar teacher’s college. He worked as a chemistry teacher at my high school for more than 30 years.
His name was remembered as a rebellion in Kashgar. When he was at the university in 1980s, he was one of the student leaders. He had the debate with Ismail Tiliwaldi who was the chairman of Uyghur regional government. As chemistry student, he accused state owned companies polluting the drinking water in Kashgar. He also criticised government caused health problems among the Uyghurs by exploding nuclear bomb in the Uyghur region. He asked local government for taking action to prevent soil pollution.
When he was teaching at the high school at end of 1989, he criticised mayor, he accused him for using local tax payers money to build national roads. He asked national governments should pay the money back to local authorities.
In 1993, he organised teachers whose salaries being postponed for six months. He won at the end and be praised brave Ibrahim.
In July 2011, When I returned to Kashgar, he was the only one who was agreed to work with me. Both of us believe that Uyghur language should not be banned in education, it should not be out of the curriculum, classroom.
He was a strong supporter of my mother language kindergarten movement, he got suffered a lot because of that.
I did not mention his contributions for protecting him from being persecuted. However, he got heavily price. He got detained during the campaign against my influence.
In July 2019, “Elimination of Abduweli’s influence movement” started in Kashgar. There were more than thousand people being arrested in my home county Konasheher, there were 200 people arrested in Kashgar city. Ibrahim Dawut was one of them.
How did I learn? Recently, one of my students came to Europe from China. She got arrested in Kashgar, she was eye-witnessed where people were being arrested. They got detained for sending their kids to my kindergarten, meeting with me at the restaurant and keeping my phone number, even some of them happened to be in the same hotel, flight with me!
Ibrahim Dawut was one of the victims, he got murdered during the interrogation like my niece Mihriay. He lost his life in October 2019.
He was legendary person, he left his legacy as the hero, in the police station, when he had a chance to call his family, he told one of his kid, he asked her to leave China, to tell the truth, to try everything she could to expose atrocities against people.
