Metseidi Metqasim was reportedly detained and sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Metseidi Metqasim was born on March 11, 1968, in the Egle hamlet, Kokyar village, Keriye county, in a working family. From September 1984 to July 1989, he studied journalism at the Faculty of Chinese Literature of Xinjiang University. From 1989 to 4 April 2005, he worked as a reporter and editor at the Keriye County Television Station. From 2005 until now, he has been serving in the Keriye Regional Association of Literature and Artists.

Metseidi Metqasim entered the ranks of literary creation with the poem “Walking Stick(Hasa)” published in “Urumchi Evening Newspaper” in 1984. So far, he wrote more than 250 poems and have been published in newspapers and magazines such as “Tarim“, “Xin jiang Youth“, “New Jade (Yeni Qashteshi)“. Among them, 17 poems such as “Thoughts Scattered in Tarim” and “Fire in the Heart of Tarim” were translated into Chinese and Japanese, and his poem “I Am a Child of the Sand Sea” was awarded the “Outstanding Work” by the Association of Literature and Artists of the Autonomous Region in 1993. Some of his poems have been selected in collections such as “Awake generation (Oyghaq Evlad)“. His book called “Uyghur Tightrope Walking Art (Uyghur Darwazliq Seniti)” has published by Xinjiang People’s Publishing House – 新疆人民出版社 in April 2004. He worked on VCD albums “Keriye Folk Songs” (four parts) was published and distributed by Chinese National Audio and Video Publishing House – 中国民族音像出版社. Four news articles won awards at the national and autonomous region levels. He worked as the editor and managing editor of the 2006 issue of “Blue Spring” magazine published in Keriye. Participated in the compilation and editing of five books such as “Keriye Qesidisi” and “Keriye Historical Materials“. The second group of intangible cultural heritage is included in the list.

He is a member of Xinjiang Writers Association and Hotan Provincial Writers Association.
